highly literary, with occasional grammar slips

i was just browsing through some of my really old files from my really old computer (yes, those who know me 6 years back would know my computer too). i chanced upon some files so long ago that gave me goosebumps. there's a story that comes with it. bear with me.

there was a sch which was so much fun. there was a class which was the best that anybody could ask for. and there was this boy. this boy was the cream of the crop. the best of the best. and there was this girl. she was not so much outstanding, but she was special. they were good friends. they spend much of their time in school together since they were in the same class. after school, they would hang out together with a group of friends, or sometimes, just the two of them. they could talk about anything under the sun. the boy liked the girl. and of course, the girl liked the boy very much.

the boy could play the drums very well. not only so, he was an outstanding pianist and guitarist. he has the most beautiful pair of eyes that the girl adored. he was tall and strong, giving her the sense of security she needed. his athletic abilities are definitely way beyond that of an ordinary person. he was smart, but at the same time hardworking. he makes witty jokes that often sweep the girl off her feet. most importantly, the boy was willing to head to a school that the girl dreamed of going to; all for her. he was perfect.

but the girl knew that the boy did not share the same set of values as her. he was not too much into the God that the girl loves. he did not give much regard to it. the girl was devastated. should she give up someone so perfect and wonderful for this God? is He worth it?

in the end, she decided to forsake her newfound love for her beloved God. she was upset, of course. occasional encounters with the boy hurt. she could not believe she actually gave him up, but knew that was the right decision. she knew that God has someone better waiting for her. by letting go, she found love from God. she saw a deeper intimacy forming between God and her and it was breath-taking! her walk with God was like romance for her, she felt comforted.

many a times, people would tell her how regretful it was that she let the boy go. but deep in her, the girl was convinced of God's marvellous works and His timing. she knows God love her too much to let her down.

i love this story very much. i believe our Father is not just the Father who gives us the best, but the God who helps us make every right decision in our lives. decisions that will bring us hope and a better future.

are you listening to God in your decision making?
